Tinder's AI tool will automatically select your best dating profile pictures.

Tinder is introducing a new feature that utilizes artificial intelligence to aid users in selecting photos for their dating profiles.

The Photo Selector tool recommends up to 27 photos to help daters make a good first impression by taking a selfie for facial recognition and allowing the app to access photos on their smartphone.

According to Tinder's survey data, 68% of app users desire an AI-powered photo selector, while 52% find it difficult to choose profile images.

"A spokesperson for the tool stated that it aims to exclude photos with multiple faces and those that violate the company's rules, such as those containing nudity and drugs. After this, Photo Selector selects a diverse range of photos that are suitable for Tinder, taking into account factors like lighting and composition."

Tinder has been using AI to improve its user experience for several years. The "Are You Sure?" feature, introduced in 2021, checks for potentially harmful or inappropriate language in an opening line and asks the user if they are sure they want to send it. Additionally, the app includes a "Does this bother you?" tool that recognizes offensive language in a message and asks the recipient if they would like to report it.

Tinder is not the only dating app utilizing AI.

The app Private Detector, developed by Bumble, employs AI technology to identify and pixelate nude images that are shared on the platform.

Whitney Wolfe Herd, the founder and former CEO of Bumble, envisions an AI concierge assisting daters in improving their communication skills.

In the near future, you may have conversations with your AI dating concierge about your insecurities, and it will provide you with practical advice on communicating with others.

Eventually, she suggests that individuals could utilize their AI assistant to discover compatible matches.

"In a world where your dating concierge can go on dates for you with other dating concierges, you won't have to communicate with 600 individuals," she stated.

Many Americans have had negative experiences with online dating, with 46% reporting such experiences, according to 2023 data from Pew Research Center.
