According to Tinder's Year in Swipe end-of-year report, the most important trait single daters are looking for next year is trustworthiness.

Finding a trustworthy partner is crucial for daters, but determining how to do so can be unclear.

Tinder dating expert Devyn Simone says that while it can take several months to determine someone's character, you can often tell early on if they are not trustworthy and sincere.

""Generally, there are certain signs that indicate someone who has won the lottery won't say anything, even though they may give hints," Simone says."

Here are three red flags that could indicate your date isn't trustworthy.

1. Their dating profile has one photo

""If my 70-something-year-old father can have a handful of photos on social media, then anyone can have more than one photo," Simone says."

Simone believes that a person who doesn't put effort into their profile is not thoughtful because they are not considering the experience of those swiping on them. It is not wise to trust someone who does not prioritize others from the beginning.

If a person is not visible in a photo, it could suggest they are trying to conceal something.

2. They don't text when they say they will

It's easy to overlook someone's slow texting or lack of responsiveness when you don't know them well.

If they fail to contact you by the promised time, it may indicate their lack of dependability.

"Ensuring that they follow through with a simple promise like 'I'll message you after I get off work' and not let it slip for three days is crucial," she emphasizes.

3. They change plans last minute

It's difficult to feel secure or at ease with someone who frequently changes their plans.

"If someone leaves you in a state of uncertainty where they initially express a desire to do one thing but then suddenly change their mind and want to do something else, that is a negative indication," she states.

You should feel confident that the plan they laid out will actually happen.

Lisa Bobby, a relationship psychologist and founder of Growing Self Counseling & Coaching in Denver, says that sometimes our reluctance to trust people is not due to their actions but rather our own past experiences.

"It's wise to be cautiously optimistic," she advises. "We should avoid assuming others are malevolent liars, but we shouldn't trust people we don't know well."

Remind yourself that character reveals itself over time.

"If we become too fixated on someone before knowing them, it hinders our ability to see them clearly," Bobby remarks. "We are viewing them through a lens."

If you're struggling to trust again after experiencing romantic deception, it may be beneficial to examine your own blind spots. Bobby suggests asking yourself a few questions to help you analyze these areas.

• What was I telling myself about this person that was ultimately incorrect?
• What are my patterns and my vulnerabilities?
• If I had to do this over again, what should I have been looking for or paying attention to?

Bobby claims that he has never encountered someone who did not have any flaws during the exploration that could have safeguarded them.
