1. A day to connect

According to Tallent, a lunch with a friend is an excellent way to maintain connections with significant others and maintain a balanced lifestyle.

It's important to schedule time to connect with the people who bring you joy, whether through a video call or a phone chat, she emphasizes.

The ongoing Harvard study, which has been running for 86 years, suggests that maintaining positive relationships in your life can boost your overall happiness and increase your lifespan.

2. A day to catch up on sleep

Getting enough high-quality sleep each night can be challenging, particularly during busy periods of the month.

Tallent suggests adding a day where the focus is on getting a full night's sleep and taking a nap if needed to the list of things to do.

"We often schedule our month, week, or lives, but overlook the importance of sleep."

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, prioritizing work over sleep can actually decrease productivity, and it's crucial to get enough sleep to achieve optimal physical and mental health.

3. A day devoted to yourself

Devoting a full day to yourself is crucial for your mental health, according to Tallent.

Breaking up a full day to yourself can sometimes be challenging, she notes.

Having some time to yourself can help you reconnect and do the things that bring you joy or help you recharge and feel refreshed.

You can spend the day engaging in self-care activities, pursuing your interests or exploring new places.

4. A day with less social media

Disconnecting from social media can provide you with the opportunity to connect more deeply with yourself.

Tallent suggests that being flexible with social media can be helpful.

You can set time restrictions on your phone apps, so begin by limiting the time spent on apps like Instagram and TikTok.

5. A day without a schedule

Tallent says that an unscheduled day, where you can just do whatever you need to do, would be something he would add to the list.

In a fast-paced environment, taking a break from routine and sticking to a schedule can be a refreshing way to relax and slow down.

"Sometimes it's like a day of cleaning, sometimes it's a day of connecting, or running errands. It could be anything it needs to be," she says. "Sometimes you just need to schedule nothing for a day because things can be so busy."
