  • In August, according to new FEC filings, Donald Trump was substantially outraised and outspent by Vice President Kamala Harris.
  • In August, the Harris campaign collected over $189 million, which is four times more than the $44 million earned by the Trump campaign.
  • Despite outspending Trump in August, the vice president had $404 million in cash at the end of the month, significantly more than Trump's $295 million.

In August, former President Donald Trump was substantially outraised and outspent by Vice President Kamala Harris, resulting in the latter having more cash to fund his final sprint to the November election, as per new filings from the Federal Election Commission.

In August, the Harris campaign collected over $189 million, which is four times more than the $44 million earned by the Trump campaign.

The figures indicate the amount of money raised for the candidate's primary campaign, excluding contributions to their other political activities.

The Harris campaign outraised the Trump campaign by $231 million in August, with a total haul of $361 million from campaign donations joint with the Democratic National Committee and fundraising committees.

The figures do not include the $47 million cash boost from the Harris campaign's 600,000 donors in the 24 hours after the first and only Harris-Trump debate.

On Saturday, the Harris campaign received an invitation from CNN to participate in a second debate on October 23rd, but Trump has consistently refused to participate in a rematch.

Despite the initial excitement surrounding the July candidate swap among Democrats, the latest FEC filings show a growing enthusiasm for Harris among donors, with her campaign raising $310 million in July after Biden's endorsement.

Biden has erased the fundraising lead Trump and Republicans had before dropping out, as Harris has flipped the donation gap in Democrats' favor.

The Harris campaign has been outspending Trump with an advertising blitz across television and digital platforms, as well as other campaign expenses.

In August, the DNC and Harris together spent $258 million, significantly more than the $121 million Trump and the RNC spent, as per FEC filings.

Earlier this month, Julie Chavez Rodriguez, the campaign manager for Harris, stated in a press release that as the election nears its end, they are ensuring that every dollar earned is used to win over voters who will ultimately decide the outcome.

As the presidential race neared its conclusion, the Harris campaign finished August with $404 million in cash reserves, surpassing the $295 million reported by Trump's team.

The campaign guaranteed that it would continue with the race through the remaining funds.

""The Trump-Vance campaign is gaining momentum in the final stretch of the race, as reflected in the fundraising numbers from August," Trump campaign senior adviser Brian Hughes stated."
