On Saturday, former President Donald Trump announced the launch of his own line of tennis shoes, which may have been anticipated by those waiting for the other shoe to drop in the upcoming presidential race.

Trump declared the launch of his sneaker line at Sneaker Con in Philadelphia, stating that he had long desired to do so.

He stated that he has a team of amazing individuals who collaborate with him on projects, and they collectively developed this idea, which he believes will be a huge success.

Trump mentioned at the sneaker launch that the line could be aimed at winning over younger supporters, stating, "We're going to turn this country around quickly. We're going to turn it around. And we'll remember the young people and Sneaker Con."

Though some occasional boos were heard amidst the cheers, he was generally met with an enthusiastic crowd.

The line, called Trump Sneakers, is available for preorder online.

Three pairs of tennis shoes are showcased: high-top, red laceless athletic, and white laceless athletic.

The "Never Surrender High Top Sneaker," which are gold and feature a "T" on the outside of each shoe, are priced at $399 online. The athletic shoes, which feature a "T" and the number 45 on the sides, are priced at $199.

The website offers both sneakers and "Victory47" perfume and cologne for purchase at $99 each.

CIC Ventures LLC has licensed the former president's name, image, and likeness to sell sneakers, perfume, and cologne, and these sales are not related to Trump's presidential campaign or the Trump Organization.

Michael Tyler, communications director for President Joe Biden's re-election campaign, mocked the sneaker launch by saying, "Donald Trump's attempt to sell Off-Whites is the closest he'll ever get to having Air Force Ones."

Trump has previously licensed his name, image, and likeness to sell products. In 2022 and 2023, he struck a licensing agreement with NFT INT LLC to sell NFT trading cards. These cards were produced and sold by NFT INT LLC, which had a licensing agreement with Trump to use his name and image.

The sneaker collection was unveiled by Trump at Sneaker Con, an event that began in 2009 and has since become a leading gathering within the broader sneaker culture.

Sneaker culture has expanded beyond athletes to musicians, actors, and even politicians, with some politicians being referred to as "sneakerheads." Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla., is reported to have over 150 pairs of collectible sneakers.

Few politicians are directly associated with sneakers, but there are a few pairs known to exist, such as the Nike shoes designed for former President Barack Obama and the Under Armour shoes made for him with the presidential logo that Steph Curry wore for a game.
