Trump hush money conviction: Judge postpones ruling on key decision
  • A New York judge delayed his decision on whether to allow President-elect Donald Trump to overturn his guilty verdict in the criminal hush money case.
  • A week later, on Nov. 19, Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan's decision will be made public, according to emails in a court filing.
  • This month, Trump will be sentenced for 34 counts of falsifying business records.

On Tuesday, a New York judge postponed his decision on whether to grant President-elect Donald Trump's request to delay the guilty verdict in his criminal hush money case or to sentence him in late November.

The judge granted the Manhattan District Attorney's Office two days to consider how Trump's electoral win affects the case before announcing the postponement.

Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan has postponed his ruling on the case until November 19th.

On November 26, Trump will be sentenced for 34 counts of falsifying business records related to a hush money payment made by his former lawyer Michael Cohen to porn star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election.

In July, after a Supreme Court ruling broadened the scope of presidential immunity, Trump's legal team requested to discard the case and overturn the jury's decision.
