  • Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, stated that he will not participate in another debate with Kamala Harris, his Democratic opponent.
  • Trump asserted on Truth Social that he emerged victorious in his first debate against Harris in Philadelphia.
  • Trump previously faced off against President Joe Biden in a debate, resulting in Biden's poor showing and subsequent withdrawal from the race.

On Thursday, Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, declared that he would not participate in another debate with Kamala Harris, his Democratic opponent.

The former president asserted in a Truth Social post that he won his first debate against Harris on Tuesday night. He based his claim on the fact that Harris' campaign had challenged him to another debate following the end of the first one.

Some conservative commentators and Trump's own supporters have stated that Harris excelled in the debate.

In a post on Thursday, Trump stated that a prizefighter who loses a fight typically says, "I want a rematch."

"I won the Debate against Kamala Harris on Tuesday night, as polls clearly show, and she immediately called for a Second Debate," Trump wrote.

Multiple post-debate polls actually show audiences by a sizable margin believe Harris won.

In late June, Trump faced off against Biden in the second presidential debate of the 2024 election cycle. Biden's poor performance led him to withdraw his reelection bid and endorse Harris as his replacement.

Trump wrote in his post, "Kamala should concentrate on what she should have accomplished during the past nearly four years. No third debate will occur!"

Another debate was called for by Harris less than an hour after the previous post.

At a campaign rally in Charlotte, North Carolina, she stated that two nights prior, she and Donald Trump had their initial debate.

"I believe it is crucial for us to have another debate, given the significance of this election and its outcomes."
