Donald Trump, the newly elected president, announced that he would nominate Lee Zeldin, a former congressman from New York, to head the Environmental Protection Agency.

Zeldin, an attorney who represented a Long Island congressional district for four terms, has been a true fighter for America First policies, as stated by Trump.

Trump stated that he would guarantee fair and prompt deregulatory decisions that would be implemented to empower American businesses while maintaining the highest environmental standards, including the cleanest air and water on the planet.

Zeldin, 44, announced on Twitter that he was honored to be appointed as EPA Administrator in President Trump's Cabinet.

Zeldin wrote that we will restore US energy dominance, revitalize our auto industry to bring back American jobs, and make the US the global leader of AI, all while protecting access to clean air and water.

In 2022, Zeldin was the Republican Party's candidate for governor of New York.

He was defeated by incumbent Gov. Kathy Hochul.

On Monday, NBC News reported that Trump had appointed Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York as his ambassador to the United Nations, marking his first Cabinet selection. Stefanik currently serves as chair of the House Republican Conference.

Trump declared on Sunday that Tom Homan would be his designated border chief, responsible not only for safeguarding U.S. borders but also for overseeing the deportation of undocumented immigrants back to their countries of origin.

Homan is the former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
