The White House announced on Tuesday that President Joe Biden will have a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping next month in Washington.

The leaders of the world's largest economies are anticipated to meet at the APEC summit in San Francisco.

Diplomacy is intense when competition is intense," White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated during a press briefing. "Our policy towards China remains unchanged.

Jean-Pierre stated that he would not disclose specifics regarding Biden's agenda, except that he anticipates a challenging dialogue with Xi.

The face-to-face meeting will occur after the discussions held by Secretary of Treasury Janet Yellen, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, CIA Director Bill Burns, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, and U.S. Special Envoy on Climate John Kerry.

The White House has imposed restrictions on U.S. investment in certain Chinese technology, citing national security concerns.

Amid an intensifying conflict with Hamas, the White House is working to expedite security assistance and humanitarian aid to Israel.

The U.S. remains committed to supporting Ukraine as it battles against a Russian invasion that has persisted for over 600 days.

The ongoing trade war between the U.S. and China, which started under the Trump administration, has put extra pressure on their relationship, which is already under strain due to other realities.

Beijing is crucial to sustaining the Russian war effort, as Xi, Russian President Vladimir Putin's most powerful financial ally, attests to this.

The Biden administration previously cautioned China against assisting Russia in its conflict in Ukraine.

The United States and Western allies have imposed numerous economic sanctions on Russia since the start of Moscow's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, with the aim of depriving the Kremlin of the funds it needs to sustain its war effort.

Russia has surpassed Iran and North Korea as the world's most-sanctioned country after two years of economic warfare.

An increasingly isolated Russia has become even more reliant on China as a crucial ally due to the sanctions.

This month, Xi and Putin met in Beijing to further strengthen their relationship. Their last meeting took place in March at the Kremlin.

Since the start of the conflict, Xi and Zelenskyy had not spoken until a phone call occurred several weeks after the March meeting.
