The ongoing Israel-Hamas war has led to soaring tensions in the Middle East and elsewhere, prompting the U.S. State Department to issue a worldwide caution alert on Thursday.

The State Department advised Americans abroad to exercise greater caution due to the potential for terrorist attacks, demonstrations, or violent actions against U.S. citizens and interests.

Neither the State Department nor the White House provided a comment when CNBC requested one.

The State Department issued a travel advisory warning against visiting Lebanon due to the unstable security situation resulting from rocket, missile, and artillery attacks between Israel and Hezbollah or other armed militant groups.

U.S. citizens seeking assistance to leave Israel, the West Bank, Gaza, and Lebanon are advised to fill out a crisis intake form, as directed by the State Department.
