Hunter Biden, 54, faces three charges for acquiring and holding onto a Colt Cobra revolver while under the influence of illegal drugs.
The evidence against Hunter is "overwhelming" that he was addicted to crack cocaine when he bought the gun, and he lied about it on the form used in a federal background check to purchase the gun.
On Thursday, the court heard testimony from Hallie Biden, the wife of Beau Biden, who was Hunter's late brother.
In 2018, the gun at the center of the case was discovered and disposed of by Hallie Biden.
After Beau Biden died of cancer in 2015, she began dating Hunter Biden and discovered he was using crack cocaine. She then searched online to learn more about the drug, stating in court that she did so because she was unfamiliar with it.
On Oct. 23, 2018, she stated that she discovered the revolver in Hunter's truck and disposed of it behind a grocery store.
She stated to the jury that she didn't want him to get hurt, nor did she want her children to discover it and get hurt as well.
In an ABC News interview on Thursday, the president stated that he will not grant his son a pardon if he is found guilty, and will respect the jury's decision.
The trial of the incumbent president's sole surviving son commenced shortly after former President Donald Trump was found guilty of 34 felony charges for falsifying business records.
Trump has falsely stated that the case brought by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office and tried in New York state court was orchestrated by Biden to harm Trump's prospects in the 2024 presidential election.
Despite Biden's son facing prosecution by the federal Department of Justice in two separate courts, the presumptive Republican nominee and his allies have persisted in promoting and fundraising off the claim.
