Multiple outlets reported Monday that the White House is considering a presidential trip to Europe in the coming weeks, according to anonymous sources.

The escalation of Russia's invasion of Ukraine would amplify the effort to strengthen American alliances in Europe with a visit by President Joe Biden.

Biden has been at the forefront of rallying NATO allies and G-7 nations to confront Russian President Putin's unprovoked attack on Ukraine since February, employing a mix of economic sanctions and military deterrence.

Biden would likely visit Brussels, the capital of the European Union and the location of NATO headquarters, if he were to visit Europe, according to NBC News.

The alliance has increased its military presence on its eastern border and given defensive weapons and tactical equipment to Ukraine, a non-member partner country.

Biden has spent "hours and hours and hours" on the phone with U.S. allies in recent weeks, resulting in an unprecedented package of sanctions that has effectively destroyed the Russian economy.

As Putin intensifies his attacks on civilians in Ukraine and spreads disinformation at home, it's becoming increasingly clear that Western allies must take stronger action to alter the situation in Moscow.

Biden is cautious about providing offensive weapons to Ukraine and establishing a no-fly zone in its skies, as his administration fears that doing so could escalate the conflict into a global war.

This is a developing story, please check back for updates.
