  • Simone Biles won the individual all-around gold medal at the Paris Olympics and took a swipe at former President Donald Trump by tweeting "I love my black job."
  • The Republican presidential nominee, Trump, caused uproar with his assertion that immigrants are stealing jobs from Black people.
  • This week, Trump falsely claimed that Vice President Kamala Harris had not consistently portrayed herself as Black.

On Friday morning, Simone Biles, an American gymnast, won her second individual all-around gold medal at the Paris Olympics and tweeted "I love my black job" in what appeared to be a swipe at former President Donald Trump.

Trump's recent controversial comments about immigrants taking Black jobs were referenced in a post on social media site X by Biles.

During the June 27 debate between President Joe Biden and the Republican presidential nominee, the nominee stated that "Black jobs are being taken now and it could be 18, 19, or even 20 million people."

Trump stated that Black and Hispanic jobs are being taken, and people haven't seen it yet, but they will soon witness something terrible that will be the worst in history.

Trump's claim that immigrants are "taking" jobs from American workers is not supported by data.

CNBC has requested comment from Trump's campaign about Biles' tweet.

On Wednesday, Trump was questioned about the meaning of "Black jobs" during a Q&A session with three reporters at the National Association of Black Journalists' annual convention.

"Any job is a Black job if someone has it," he stated.

"Anyone who has it is taking employment away from Black people. They are coming in and invading."

In the same session, Trump falsely claimed that Vice President Kamala Harris has not consistently identified as Black.

""She was always of Indian heritage and now she wants to be known as Black," Trump said."

Harris, a Black woman, is the daughter of a father from Jamaica and a late mother from India. She studied at Howard University, a renowned historically Black institution located in Washington, D.C.

In Paris on Thursday, Biles, widely regarded as the greatest American gymnast of all time, won her second individual all-around gold medal.

In history, the most decorated U.S. gymnast is Biles, with nine Olympic medals, six of them being gold.

She is the first American to win the individual gold more than once and the first Olympic gymnast to win two in non-consecutive Games.

Her triumph in the third Olympics marks the culmination of a three-year comeback journey.

In the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Biles withdrew from the team final due to difficulties with the "twisties," a condition where gymnasts lose spatial awareness while in the air.

Her withdrawal sparked a national conversation about mental health, while also drawing criticism.

In April, Biles shared on a podcast how she felt after the 2021 Games, saying, "The world is going to hate me. I can only see what they're saying on Twitter right now."

At the time, Sen. JD Vance, an Ohio Republican who is now Trump's running mate, was a critic of Biles.

In 2021, Vance, a Senate candidate, deemed Biles' withdrawal as her "weakest moment."

Vance criticized our society's approach to praising people on Fox News, stating that it reflects poorly on our therapeutic culture when we celebrate individuals' weakest moments rather than their moments of strength and heroism.

NBCUniversal, the parent company of CNBC, owns NBC Sports and NBC Olympics. NBC Olympics holds the U.S. broadcast rights to all Summer and Winter Games through 2032.
