Almost all of the Russian troops stationed on Ukraine's border are currently engaged in combat within the country, according to a senior Pentagon official.

President Joe Biden has previously said Russia had 190,000 troops in military readiness.

Despite the size of the forces, the two main Russian convoys outside Ukraine's major cities of Kharkiv and Kyiv remain stationary, according to an official statement from NBC News.

NATO should increase military pressure on Russia, argues former NATO policy planning director

The weak logistical resupply system has caused Russian forces to struggle in overcoming scores of tanks and trucks being stranded across eastern and central Ukraine due to breakdowns or running out of gas.

Over 100,000 American troops are now stationed in Europe after the deployment of an additional 500 troops, according to a senior defense official.

Along NATO's eastern flank, countries such as Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia have seen the deployment of thousands of troops in recent weeks.

Despite logistical issues on the ground, Russia has been relentlessly attacking Ukraine with heavy artillery. As of Monday, an official stated that Russian forces have launched over 625 missiles at Ukrainian targets.

Across the country, from Mariupol in the southeast to Kyiv's suburbs, residential buildings and city centers have been destroyed by missiles.

The official stated that the United States has no evidence that the Kremlin is planning to deploy more active-duty troops to the front, despite the Russian military's inability to achieve its objectives of capturing Kyiv and Kharkiv.

The senior defense aide warned that Russia still possesses a significant amount of personnel and firepower.
