In a televised address on Tuesday morning, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that his government will not respond to any provocation from Russia, but emphasized that they will not give anything away.
In a broadcast, Zelenskyy stated that they are committed to resolving the issue through diplomatic methods and not responding to any provocations, following Putin's order to send troops into eastern Ukraine.
"We are on our land, and we are not afraid of anyone or everyone," he stated, as reported by NBC News.
On Monday evening, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that he would acknowledge the sovereignty of two separatist regions in eastern Ukraine. Putin signed a decree ordering troops to be deployed to Donetsk and Luhansk, although the specifics of the mission are yet to be clarified.
World leaders condemned the move.
U.S. President Biden issued an executive order barring American investment, trade, and financing in the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republic regions. European leaders condemned Putin's move as a "clear violation of international law."

Ukraine is not the same country it was eight years ago when Russia illegally annexed Crimea, leading to conflict in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions that persists to this day, as stated by Zelenskyy.
He stated that it's not February 2014, but rather February 2022.
Although it's a different nation and a different military force, the objective remains the same: achieving peace.
NBC News reports that Ukraine has a standing military of over 200,000 soldiers and can mobilize an additional 300,000 soldiers. Out of these, 130,000 would form new territorial defense battalions.
A December survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology revealed that more than half of Ukrainians would fight if Russia invades, as reported by NBC.
