The weak and hoarse performance of the incumbent in the debate caused alarm among Democrats, leading some major donors, commentators, and supporters to publicly urge Biden, who is 81 years old, to abandon his campaign for another term.

At least nine sitting House Democrats are part of the growing chorus, according to NBC News' count.

No Democratic senators have joined the call for a change in the ticket leadership, while only a few House Democrats have expressed support, despite the risk involved just four months before the election.

Biden has refused to step down from the presidential race, asserting that he remains the most suitable candidate to challenge Trump in the election. He has been actively campaigning since the debate and has been working to strengthen his support among crucial groups, such as the Congressional Black and Hispanic Caucuses.

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York made it clear publicly the day after the debate that he supports President Joe Biden and the Democratic ticket. He stated that his position has not changed.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., has said he backs Biden.

House Democrats were scheduled to convene at 9 a.m. ET, according to NBC's report. Senate Democrats are set to have a caucus lunch on Tuesday afternoon.

A group of protesters gathered outside the Democratic National Committee building, wearing sunglasses and suits, and displayed signs questioning Joe Biden's fitness for the presidency.

According to Politico, the protesters stated that they were affiliated with the National Republican Campaign Committee.
