  • Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has cancelled a trip to the exclusive New York beach community of the Hamptons.
  • Shapiro is being considered to be Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate.

According to a source, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro has cancelled a trip to the Hamptons due to being considered as Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate.

Shapiro was scheduled to attend at least two events in the Hamptons, including a meet and greet with affluent donors at the residence of public relations guru Mike Kempner.

"According to NBC News, Manuel Bonder, spokesman for Shapiro, confirmed that the Governor's trip was planned several weeks ago and included fundraisers for his campaign committee. However, his schedule has changed and he will no longer be traveling to the Hamptons this weekend."

The upcoming meeting at Kempner's home in Water Mill, N.Y. is expected to attract over 100 attendees, including professionals from the legal, sports, and finance sectors, the source stated. The source was granted anonymity to discuss a confidential matter.

An invite stated that Shapiro was scheduled to attend a fundraiser in East Hampton on Saturday for The Next 50.

Some Harris advisers have made Shapiro a favorite among them because of his popularity in the crucial swing state. Shapiro's approval ratings are among the highest of any governor in the country.

He is commonly perceived as a moderate Democrat, possessing a pro-business outlook and a disposition to cooperate with Republicans.

Harris and her running mate will commence a week of barnstorm campaigning in Philadelphia on Tuesday, as announced by her campaign.

The location has only fueled speculation that Shapiro could be that running mate.
