On Thursday, a senior Biden administration official announced that the United States intends to impose sanctions on approximately 400 Russian individuals and entities, including over 300 lawmakers from the Duma and Russian elites.

The G-7 group and the European Union will reveal new measures to combat Russian attempts to circumvent current sanctions, including those targeting its central bank, as Russia's unprovoked and violent invasion of Ukraine continues into its second month on Thursday.

The official, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that the EU and G-7 will inform international organizations that they will no longer operate within Russia under "business as usual" standards from now on.

The official stated that our objective is to systematically eliminate the advantages and perks that Russia previously had as a member of the global economic system.

On Thursday, during a speech before NATO, President Biden will reveal the measures he has planned. This is the first of three significant speeches he will give during his time in Brussels.

The senior White House aide stated that Biden will reveal a fresh batch of American initiatives to support the Ukrainian people.

The official stated that the United States is ready to contribute more than $1 billion in fresh funding for humanitarian aid to those affected by Russia's conflict in Ukraine and its far-reaching consequences, without specifying the timing or method of the funding.

Biden will reveal a fresh pledge of resources to safeguard global food security, which has been disrupted by Russia's invasion, as both Moscow and Kyiv are significant exporters of grain worldwide.

The Biden administration will allocate $11 billion through the U.S. government's Feed the Future initiative to combat food insecurity and reduce malnutrition, according to an official statement.

A significant portion of Ukraine's grain exports are directed towards Africa and Asia, and the American funds will be allocated to countries with high populations that are at risk of food price increases.

Biden will unveil a new European Democratic Resilience Initiative with at least $320 million in fresh funding to bolster human rights and democratic values in Ukraine and surrounding regions.

The EDRI will combat disinformation, safeguard activists and vulnerable groups, and finance initiatives to combat corruption and kleptocracy, all while promoting democratic institutions, upholding the rule of law, and advocating for accountability for human rights violations, as stated in a White House fact sheet.
