On Wednesday, media personality and talk show host Oprah Winfrey publicly supported Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency.

Winfrey announced in a speech at the Democratic National Convention that the plan is to elect Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States.

Winfrey made several criticisms of Donald Trump and his running mate, JD Vance of Ohio.

At one point, Winfrey stated, "We have surpassed ludicrous tweets, falsehoods, and tomfoolery."

In her speech, she mentioned Vance's controversial remarks about "childless cat ladies."

In the event of a house fire, we prioritize saving the individuals inside rather than inquiring about their race, religion, relationship status, or political affiliations.

"If the place belongs to a cat lady without children, we attempt to remove the cat as well."

Winfrey's speech reduced the decision between Harris and Trump to which candidate embodies "the greatest values of America."

"Winfrey stated that soon, we will be educating our children about how Harris, an immigrant's child, rose to become the 47th president of the United States, emphasizing that this is the best of America."

""We won't go back. We won't be set back, pushed back, bullied back, or kicked back. We're not going back," she said, choosing the sweet promise of tomorrow over the bitter return to yesterday."

"Above all else, let us select freedom," she declared. "Why? Because that's the essence of America. We are all Americans, and collectively, let us choose Kamala Harris!"

Notably, the DNC kept under wraps the appearance of Oprah Winfrey, which was reported by several news outlets earlier Wednesday.

Winfrey, a media trailblazer, has largely remained neutral in politics throughout her career and did not intend to be involved in Harris' campaign, according to CBS host Gayle King, one of her close friends.

In the 2008 presidential cycle, then-Sen. Barack Obama received Winfrey's first-ever endorsement, which was estimated to have driven approximately 1 million votes into Obama's column in the Democratic primary.

In addition to supporting Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election and Joe Biden in the 2020 cycle, she also backed the former Secretary of State.
