According to NBC News, the former President, Donald Trump, has won the Nevada Republican caucus.

In November, Nevada will be a closely-watched swing state during the first 2024 primary contest in the West.

In the 2020 general election, President Joe Biden won the state with a slim margin of 0.9%, or approximately 33,000 votes in a state with 1.8 million registered voters.

Although Democrats have won Nevada in the past four presidential elections, in 2022, a Republican, Joe Lombardo, was elected governor. Lombardo has already endorsed Trump for president.

The Nevada Republican Party will allocate 26 delegates according to the results of Thursday's caucuses, with Trump's victory in the small, in-person voting events being virtually certain.

A pastor and long-shot presidential candidate, Ryan Binkley, was the only other person on the ballot.

In the Nevada Republican primary, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley was defeated by Trump, leaving him with no serious primary opponents.

Although Haley was the only Republican candidate on the ballot, sixty-three percent of the approximately 200,000 people who voted in Nevada chose "none of these candidates," effectively opposing Haley.

Haley's decision to run in the primary ballot allowed Trump to run virtually unopposed in Thursday's caucus.

Betsy Ankney, Haley campaign manager, dismissed the significance of this week's Nevada contests, stating that they had not invested any money or effort into the state. During a press call prior to Tuesday's loss, she remarked, "None of these candidates are a concern to us."
