  • Michelle Obama minced no words in challenging Donald Trump during her DNC speech.
  • "She joked, "I want to know who will inform him that the job he's looking for may be one of those 'Black jobs,' as he recently stated that lower-skilled jobs are 'Black jobs'.""
  • Obama's previous DNC speeches usually avoided partisan conflict. However, this time she did not.

In her speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Tuesday, Michelle Obama directly confronted Donald Trump over his ten-year campaign to disparage the Obamas.

"Obama stated that Trump's efforts to instill fear in people were futile, as he resorted to spreading hateful, sexist, and racist lies instead of proposing practical solutions that would improve people's lives."

"She joked about who would inform Trump that the job he's looking for may be one of those "Black jobs," which reference his recent remarks about lower-skilled jobs being "Black jobs." The audience erupted in laughter at the joke."

A spokesperson for the Trump campaign did not provide a comment when asked late on Tuesday.

Obama's partisan approach to the Republican nominee on Tuesday was unusual for the former first lady, who has typically urged Americans to transcend politics.

Earlier this summer, Michelle Obama was speculated as a potential presidential candidate among Democrats, who urged President Biden to step down from the race following his poor performance in the June debate.

Obama's previous convention speeches often conveyed a clear desire to stay out of the political fray, unlike the former first lady who has never publicly expressed an interest in running for elected office.

In her 2016 DNC speech, Obama used the phrase "When they go low, we go high" to criticize Trump and the GOP abstractly.

On Tuesday, she compared Vice President Kamala Harris and Trump in an attempt to damage Trump's image as a wealthy real estate and media tycoon.

"Obama stated that "most of us won't have the opportunity to experience the positive effects of inheriting wealth.""

If we fail a business or face a crisis, we won't have the opportunity to try again, she emphasized. If things don't work out, we can't complain or cheat others to get ahead.

"Since we can't alter the rules, we'll always emerge victorious," she stated.
