Liz Cheney stated at the Texas Tribune Festival that her father believes and has publicly declared that no one in their country has ever posed a greater threat to their democracy than Donald Trump.

Liz Cheney, a former House member from Wyoming, parted ways with Trump due to her opposition to the January 6, 2021, assault on the Capitol.

In the state's Republican primary the following year, Trump successfully worked to defeat Liz Cheney when she was up for reelection.

Liz Cheney was insulted by Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung when asked for comment by NBC News.

Dick Cheney, who served as President George W. Bush's vice president from 2001 to 2009, expressed his disapproval of Trump in a 2022 ad for his daughter's reelection campaign.

"He is a coward, as a real man wouldn't lie to his supporters," Cheney stated in the ad. "He lost his election and lost big. I know it, he knows it, and deep down, I believe most Republicans acknowledge it."

On Wednesday, Liz Cheney endorsed Joe Biden for president at an event at Duke University.

On Friday, she also supported Democrat Colin Allred in the Texas Senate race against incumbent Republican Senator Ted Cruz.

Liz Cheney, who served with Allred in the House of Representatives, stated that Texas has a serious candidate running for the United States Senate.
