On Wednesday, Keir Starmer, the U.K. Prime Minister, and Olaf Scholz, the German Chancellor, met in Berlin to strengthen their relationship and deepen ties amid a broader reset of their countries' relations following the U.K.'s departure from the European Union.

During a press conference after the meeting, Starmer stated that energy security, defense, climate change, and economic themes were potential areas of discussion for the bilateral agreement. He emphasized the importance of a strong relationship between the countries for economic growth, noting that he and Scholz had also discussed an action plan for illegal migration.

No formal deal is anticipated until the year's conclusion.

On Wednesday, Scholz referred to Germany and the U.K. as "special partners," while Starmer stated that the two countries already had a strong bond and were now strengthening it.

The British prime minister is visiting Berlin to meet with several political and business leaders and has stated that his government aims to reset relationships between the U.K. and European countries.

Ahead of the trip, Starmer stated that we have a rare chance to rebuild our relationship with Europe and pursue sincere, ambitious alliances that benefit the British people.

He emphasized the need to address the damaged relationships resulting from the previous government's actions regarding Brexit.
