Gen. Pat Ryder, Pentagon Press Secretary.
The guided missile submarine and the carrier strike group equipped with F-35C fighter jets will be sent to the region, with an accelerated transit.
On Sunday, Austin spoke with Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant about the recent killing of Hamas' former political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and the threat of retaliation from Iran's leadership.
