On Thursday, Vice President Kamala Harris defended her policy shifts to the center, stating that her values on key issues, such as border security and climate change, have remained consistent.

If elected in November, Harris promised to appoint a Republican to her Cabinet, according to reports.

Harris stated to Dana Bash on CNN that the most crucial and noteworthy aspect of her policy outlook and choices is that her values have remained unchanged.

In the initial segment of the joint interview with Harris and her vice presidential candidate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, her comments were featured.

Their lack of exposure to the press has been criticized by their Republican opponents, including former President Donald Trump and Sen. JD Vance of Ohio.

The interview took place at Kim's Cafe in Savannah, Georgia, earlier Thursday and will air at 9 p.m. ET on CNN.

Harris was asked by Bash in the clip, "What should voters consider when evaluating the changes you've made and discussed in your policy?"

The vice president picked two hot-button issues to illustrate her point.

"I have always believed that the climate crisis is real and urgent, and I have worked on it," Harris said. "Holding ourselves to deadlines is necessary."

The Inflation Reduction Act has set goals for the United States and the world to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

"As an example, that value has not changed."

Harris maintained, "The value of my role in securing our border has not altered."

"As the attorney general of California for two terms, I prosecuted transnational criminal organizations for violating American laws related to the illegal passage of guns, drugs, and human beings across our border. My values remain unchanged."
