  • Three Republicans publicly criticized their party's leader and encouraged Republicans to back Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election at the Democratic National Convention.
  • In her speech, former Trump White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham stated that Trump lacks empathy, morals, and fidelity to the truth.
  • On Jan. 6, 2021, Grisham resigned from her role as chief of staff to former First Lady Melania Trump following the violent insurrection on Capitol Hill.

On the second night of the Democratic National Convention, three Republicans appeared on stage to explain why they defected from the party of Donald Trump and encouraged their fellow Republicans to support Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

According to former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham, Trump mocks his supporters behind closed doors, referring to them as "basement dwellers."

Grisham remembered how he used to tell Stephanie, "It doesn't matter what you say, just say it enough and people will believe you," despite having no empathy, morals, or fidelity to the truth.

She is a "true believer" in Trump's MAGA movement and one of his "closest advisors," often spending holidays with his family at Mar-a-Lago.

Nine months after serving as Trump's press secretary, Grisham was appointed First Lady Melania Trump's chief of staff. She resigned from that position on January 6, 2021, following the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

"I am standing before a podium, supporting a Democrat, because my love for my country outweighs my loyalty to my party. Kamala Harris speaks truthfully and values the American people, earning my vote."

As press secretary, I was criticized for not holding a White House briefing. The reason was that unlike my boss, I didn't want to stand at the podium and lie.

Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung referenced a post on X by Jason Miller, a senior Trump advisor, in response to Grisham's speech.

"Grisham botched that speech," Miller wrote.

Grisham accompanied another ex-Trump supporter, Kyle Sweetser, on stage, as well as a montage of interviews with former Trump voters who intend to vote for Harris.

Sweetser stated that he voted for Trump on three separate occasions.

Trump's pledge to support blue collar workers attracted Sweetser, who works in construction.

"As I witnessed Trump's tariff policy in action, the costs for construction workers like me began to rise. This made me realize that Trump was not aligned with my interests. Instead, it seemed like his policy was aimed at enriching his own pockets," he stated.

Sweetser stated in Chicago that although he is no longer left-wing, he believes leaders should inspire their followers to excel, not hinder them. Consequently, he is supporting Kamala Harris in the upcoming election.

John Giles, the mayor of Mesa, Arizona, endorsed Kamala Harris in July, despite being a self-described "life-long Republican." Giles spoke about his decision during a Tuesday night event.

""John McCain's Republican Party is no longer relevant, and we should move on. It's time to prioritize our country's needs," he stated."
