Elon Musk vs. Kamala Harris: Mark Cuban's Take
- Mark Cuban stated that Kamala Harris is running for president not only against Elon Musk but also against Donald Trump.
- The Tesla and SpaceX CEO's $1 million per day swing-state voter sweepstakes was called "innovative" and "desperate" by Cuban.
- Musk, who is financially backing a pro-Trump super PAC, has consistently made fun of Castro's appearance.
Mark Cuban stated on Monday that Kamala Harris is running for president against both Elon Musk and Donald Trump, emphasizing her pro-business stance.
"Elon Musk, not Trump, is the main opponent of the Harris campaign, according to the billionaire investor and former "Shark Tank" host on CNBC's "Squawk Box.""
The SpaceX CEO was criticized by Cuban for his promise to give $1 million per day to the winner of a swing-state voter sweepstakes, which Cuban deemed "innovative" and "desperate."
If Harris wins, she could mend her relationship with Musk, according to Cuban's prediction.
The latest exchange between the two billionaires, who have been taking on more prominent campaign roles and intensifying their attacks against each other, was made by Cuban.
Musk, who has given millions of dollars to a pro-Trump super PAC, frequently ridiculed Cuban's appearance, after Cuban stated that few other CEOs support the GOP candidate.
On Thursday, Elon Musk responded to a Cuban shot by asking, "Can you stop thinking about me?"
Cuban stated on X, a social media platform owned by Musk, that if he had to take over and fund the ground game of a candidate who was so incompetent, he would also be looking for a distraction.
Cuban called out Musk again Monday morning on CNBC.
Cuban stated that the neck-and-neck race between Harris and Trump in the latest polls means that nobody really knows the outcome, and it ultimately comes down to getting out the vote.
"Elon versus Trump is not the main focus, it's actually the Harris campaign versus Elon," Cuban stated.
Elon Musk, the wealthiest individual globally, has emerged as a prominent surrogate for the Trump campaign and a significant spender in the 2024 election. He has led get-out-the-vote efforts in Pennsylvania and donated nearly $75 million to his America PAC between July and early September.
Trump frequently brags about having Musk's backing and has proposed that CEO could assume a significant position in his administration should he secure the election.
Musk is accepting his role as one of Trump's leading supporters.
On Saturday, Musk announced that he would randomly award $1 million daily to registered voters who sign a petition supporting that PAC.
"Cuban stated on CNBC that the giveaway was both innovative and desperate. He explained that it was only done out of necessity."
Although Cuban acknowledged that a sweepstakes could be a good idea, he remained skeptical about its success.
"But you don't know until you try," he said, "it could just as easily backfire."
Harris is a better presidential candidate for small businesses and the economy compared to Trump, as Cuban argued in a multi-pronged argument.
Cuban pointed out that most small-business owners fall under the group of Americans making $400,000 a year or less, and Harris has promised not to raise taxes on them.
Cuban, the founder of Cost Plus Drugs, emphasized that Harris' focus on reducing healthcare and pharmaceutical costs through tackling pharmacy middlemen could help households and small businesses offset inflation.
"She has spoken openly about it, but Donald Trump remains silent."
He contended that Harris' strategy for dealing with illegal immigration would be more advantageous for companies than the mass-deportation plan proposed by Trump.
Cuban posed the question, "What would it be like if you suddenly received a knock on your door from someone from Stephen Miller's squad requesting the names, addresses, and immigration status of all your employees?"
"That's not how you can run a country."
Trump's plan to use tariffs as a primary tool for both his economic and foreign policy was criticized by Cuban, who deemed it "insane" that the president proposed using tariffs to discourage a Chinese invasion of Taiwan.
