Elon Musk revealed his endorsement for Treasury secretary on X, a cabinet position that President-elect Donald Trump has not yet announced his preference to fill on Saturday.

Howard Lutnick, Trump-Vance transition co-chair and CEO and chairman of Cantor Fitzgerald, BGC Group and Newmark Group chairman, will "actually bring about change."

Sources indicate that Scott Bessent, founder and CEO of Key Square Group, and Lutnick are being considered for the position of Treasury Department head.

In his post on X, Musk, C, and SpaceX discussed their thoughts on Bessent.

He wrote that in his view, Bessent is a typical choice for business.

He stated that America is facing bankruptcy due to "business-as-usual" and that change is necessary.

Musk also expressed interest in hearing more opinions on the matter for Trump to consider feedback.

Politico reported that Karoline Leavitt, Trump transition spokesperson, stated that the president-elect has not yet decided on the appointment of Treasury secretary.

"Trump's second administration staffing choices will be announced when they are made, according to Leavitt."

Both Lutnick and Bessent have close ties to Trump, with Lutnick having known the president-elect for decades and having even hosted a fundraiser for him.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Lutnick has been assisting Trump in reviewing candidates for his cabinet.

During his 2024 campaign, Bessent served as a key economic advisor to the president-elect and received an endorsement from Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, as reported by Semafor.

"I know him well and he's highly qualified, he's from South Carolina," Graham said.
