On Wednesday night at the Democratic National Convention, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz stated that he and Vice President Kamala Harris will 'turn the page on the Trump administration.'

"We have something superior to present to the American people," Walz stated as he was nominated to be Harris' vice presidential running mate in Chicago.

Walz narrated his journey from growing up in the small town of Butte, Nebraska, to becoming a public school teacher, football coach, National Guard member, and eventually a congressman, in a lively and animated speech.

"Never underestimate a public school teacher," Walz said.

He also talked about his and his wife's struggle to have children.

"Gwen and I share a personal experience with infertility. Although you may not have gone through it, I'm sure you know someone who has. I recall the nights I prayed for a call with good news, the anxiety when the phone rang, and the devastation when treatments failed. It took us years to come to terms with it."

Walz stated that he discussed the history in detail because it is a significant aspect of the current election, which centers on freedom.

"When Republicans use the word 'freedom,' they mean that the government should have the power to invade your doctor's office," he said. "Corporations are free to pollute the air and water. Banks are free to take advantage of customers."

"When we Democrats discuss freedom, we refer to your ability to improve your life and the lives of those you care about. This includes the freedom to choose your own healthcare and the freedom to send your children to school without fear of being shot."

The Heritage Foundation's Project 2025, a blueprint for a second Trump administration, was mentioned by many speakers at the DNC. This plan contains proposals that are so controversial that Trump has denied any involvement with it.

Walz mentioned Trump's Ohio senator running mate, JD Vance, as an example.

"Walz stated that Project 2025 will greatly complicate the lives of those simply trying to get by, as they have spent a considerable amount of time feigning ignorance on the matter. However, as someone who has coached high school football for a long time, Walz is confident that when someone puts in the effort to create a plan, they intend to put it into action."

Project 2025, as described by Walz, is an agenda that benefits only the wealthiest individuals and the most extreme viewpoints in our nation.

Since at least 1984, Walz's 15-minute acceptance speech was the shortest by a vice presidential nominee, according to NBC News.
