Biden unveils new NATO aid for Ukraine amidst reelection campaign struggles.

• The aid comes over two years into Russia's brutal invasion of Ukraine.

In a speech celebrating NATO's 75th anniversary, President Joe Biden unveiled new pledges to enhance Ukraine's air defense capabilities against Russia.

"Biden stated that Putin desires complete subjugation of Ukraine and the end of its democracy. However, he emphasized that Ukraine will not allow Putin to stop at Ukraine and will stop him, with the help of the full collective support."

The U.S., Germany, Romania, the Netherlands, and other partners have donated new batteries and components for Patriot missile systems, and Italy will contribute an additional SAMP-T missile system.

In the upcoming months, air defense supplies will be distributed more to Ukraine, as stated by Biden while speaking from a teleprompter.

Over two years since Russia began its brutal invasion of Ukraine, the conflict has become a contentious issue on Capitol Hill, with lawmakers divided on whether to continue funding Ukraine's defense.

The NATO Summit this week is being overshadowed by a split screen, with Biden's speech serving as the latest example. As the president meets with foreign allies, his political future in the U.S. Democratic Party is at stake.

The president used his Tuesday remarks to address Democratic concerns about his 2024 presidential bid, following his poor debate performance against former President Trump in June.

After that, some members of the Democratic Party have openly called for Biden to withdraw from the presidential race and let a new candidate take his place.

On Tuesday, Rep. Mikie Sherrill, D-N.J., added her name to the list of Democratic legislators urging Biden to withdraw from the presidential race.

While publicly supporting the president, others have expressed reservations in private.

The NATO Summit highlighted Democrats' growing concerns about losing to Trump in November, as the former president has stated that he may withdraw the U.S. from the 32-member military alliance if he gets reelected.

Despite his June 27 debate fumble, Biden has made several public appearances to restore confidence in his candidacy, including a 22-minute interview with ABC News last Friday. However, his public showings have not yet alleviated Democrats' concerns.

"If the President cannot prove to skeptical voters that he can do the job through interaction, he must make a decision, according to Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., in a Sunday broadcast interview about the week ahead."

On Thursday evening, Biden will have a solo press conference, which is eagerly awaited to demonstrate his ability to engage in an unstructured conversation with journalists.
