It is unclear if a single successful interview can undo the harm caused by the 81-year-old incumbent's lackluster performance in the presidential debate against the 78-year-old Republican former President Donald Trump.

During a campaign trip to Madison, Wisconsin, Biden will be interviewed by ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos. The interview will be broadcast during a "primetime special" on Friday at 8 p.m. ET, and an advance clip will air during ABC's "World News Tonight with David Muir," scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET.

ABC News aired the full interview on Wednesday, hours after it was shot, instead of waiting until Sunday as originally planned.

The Biden campaign may experience a turning point with the upcoming interview, as calls to replace the top of the Democratic ticket have increased following the disastrous debate.

Abigail Disney, a longtime Democratic donor and Disney heiress, announced on Thursday that she will withhold donations until Biden withdraws.

On Tuesday, CBS News reported that Harris stated, "Biden is our candidate. We defeated Trump previously, and we will do so again. Absolutely."

During the flight to Madison, reporters asked White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about Biden's abilities, and she remained steadfast in her responses.

"Although Jean-Pierre conceded that he had a bad debate, his three-and-a-half year tenure as president should not be overshadowed by the 90 minutes."

Biden, she stated, is resolute, strong, and thinking as clearly as he used to.

Despite support from Democratic governors and allies, Trump's opponents remain anxious.

Biden, who would be 86 at the end of a second term, was already struggling to improve his low approval ratings before the debate.

Despite national polls indicating a close race, surveys in crucial swing states have given Trump an advantage, while many voters have consistently voiced concerns about Biden's age and fitness for the job.

Following the debate, polls from prominent news sources, such as The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, indicated that Trump was closing the gap with Biden.
