Two sources confirmed Thursday night that President Joe Biden has chosen his Supreme Court nominee.

This year, Justice Stephen Breyer is retiring, and it is unclear whom the president has chosen to nominate to succeed him.

This week, sources confirmed that Biden had spoken with Ketanji Brown Jackson, J. Michelle Childs, and Leondra Kruger, who are all federal judges and finalists for the Supreme Court vacancy.

A source said Thursday that an announcement could come before the weekend.

CNN first reported that Biden had reached a decision.

By Monday, Biden, who as a presidential candidate promised to nominate a Black woman to the court for the first time in U.S. history, will reveal his decision.

On Thursday, Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary, stated that the administration was on track to make an announcement by Monday. However, when asked if a final decision had been made, she clarified that it was not a "final final."

“No job offer has been made,” she added.

On Wednesday, Biden met with Dana Remus, the White House counsel, and Louisa Terrell, the director of legislative affairs, in the Oval Office to discuss consultations with senators regarding the Supreme Court.

Last month, Breyer, 83, announced that he would step down at the end of the current Supreme Court term. With 27 years on the bench, he is the second-longest-serving justice after Clarence Thomas.
