Biden campaign co-chair responds to rumors about the president's mental health.
- On Sunday, Mitch Landrieu, co-chair of the Biden campaign, addressed concerns about President Biden's memory and mental capacity.
- The mental ability of Biden has been a concern for both voters and Washington.
- Following the release of Special Counsel Robert Hur's report, concerns were reignited about Biden's memory.
On Sunday, Mitch Landrieu, the national co-chair of President Joe Biden's campaign, responded to concerns raised by Special Counsel Robert Hur about Biden's alleged mental decline.
Landrieu stated on "Meet the Press" that Trump and Biden's investigations are not comparable, despite similarities in the mishandling of classified documents.
However, the most concerning aspect of this report is not the ad hominem attack on the president's capacity, but rather the personal attack on Biden's character," Landrieu stated. "I have known Biden for 30 years and have had the opportunity to meet with him in various settings. I have also traveled with him across the country, working on infrastructure projects. Let me tell you, Biden is a resilient and intelligent individual.
Special Counsel Robert Hur's investigation into the mishandling of U.S. classified documents found that Biden kept classified documents in his Delaware residence after his second term as vice president in 2017. Despite the risks associated with storing national documents in a private residence, the report concluded that Biden did not commit any criminal wrongdoing.
The report accused the president of having a "poor memory," which he denied in a national address last week.
"I am an elderly man and I know what I'm doing," Biden stated in his televised address, hours after Hur's report was released.
Recent polling has shown that voters are becoming increasingly concerned about Biden's age, which has reignited efforts in Washington to possibly change the top of the Democratic ticket.
Landrieu defended the Democratic ticket, emphasizing Biden's strength and durability.
Landrieu stated that Biden's achievements are unmatched and he will never stop working.
On "Meet the Press" Sunday, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas shared his personal experiences working with Biden and made similar remarks.
Mayorkas stated that he has met with the president numerous times in the past three years. He revealed that he intensely prepares for these meetings, and the president is meticulous, detailed, and focused on the mission.
