On Tuesday, President Joe Biden announced that he will not appeal the federal jury verdict which found his son Hunter Biden guilty of three criminal gun charges.

"Last week, I stated that I would respect the judicial process and accept the outcome of this case as Hunter considers an appeal," Biden said.

He stated that he and first lady Jill Biden would always provide love and support to Hunter and their family, and nothing would alter that.

In October 2018, Hunter Biden, 54, was found guilty by a jury on three charges related to his possession of a revolver while under the influence of illegal drugs. Prosecutors claimed that the president's son had lied on a federal background check form, stating that he was not using or addicted to illegal drugs.

After three hours of deliberation over two days, the verdict was delivered, making Hunter Biden the first son of a sitting U.S. president to be found guilty of crimes.

On Tuesday afternoon, the elder Biden will promote his administration's gun safety record and initiatives to decrease crime and prevent guns from falling into the wrong hands, according to the White House.
