Anita Dunn, a senior White House advisor, will depart her position next week to lead a large political action committee backing Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign against former President Donald Trump, as per a senior White House official.
For years, Dunn has been a trusted ally of President Biden and will now advise Future Forward, a PAC that recently launched a $50 million advertising campaign in support of Harris, as confirmed by The Washington Post.
In a statement, Biden praised Dunn as "tough and tested."
Biden stated that he deeply values her counsel and friendship and will continue to rely on her partnership and insights as they complete the job over the next six months.
Dunn expressed gratitude to President Biden and Vice President Harris for their leadership and the opportunity to be part of their accomplishments during their transformational term in the White House.
The departure of Dunn from the White House to assist Harris indicates that Biden's top advisors are preparing to aid the vice president in defeating Trump.
Dunn, a seasoned political strategist, served as Biden's advisor during his 2020 presidential campaign against Trump. She later joined the Biden White House in 2021, briefly left, and then returned in 2022 to provide counsel to the president.
She was a managing director at consulting giant SKDK and a close advisor to former President Barack Obama prior to her role with Biden.
