Recent reporting indicates that the cruise industry is experiencing smooth sailing, with a study by Cruise Lines International Association showing that traveling by cruise is one of the fastest-growing tourism sectors. Additionally, an October survey from Condé Nast Traveler revealed that 47% of people expressed interest in setting sail on a ship.

U.S. News and World Report released its 2023 ranking of the top five ocean cruise ships for families, out of 17 popular lines, with ratings ranging from one to five.

Based on the evaluation by U.S. News and World Report, the cruise lines were assessed according to these categories.

  1. Each line’s overall rating
  2. The aggregate traveler rating by “families with kids”
  3. The percentage of reviews on Cruiseline.com that are left by family travelers

To be eligible for this ranking, a cruise line must have at least 20% of its total traveler reviews from families.

No. 1 cruise for families: Disney Cruise Line

The best cruise line for families, according to a rating of 4.46, is Disney Cruise Line.

Disney Cruise Line will have six ships by December 2024, including Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wish.

Disney is praised by families for its magical features and comfortable cabins, with each ship having roughly one crew member per three passengers, as stated in the report.

Customers can travel to various destinations, including the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, the Caribbean, Australia, and the Pacific on Disney Cruise Line trips that range from two to 15 nights.

Disney Cruise Line provides youth clubs, movie theaters, and themed pools for guests. They can also dine in Disney-themed main dining rooms, meet characters, and enjoy Disney-inspired entertainment.

According to NerdWallet, Disney Cruise Line is typically more expensive than other family-friendly cruise lines, with a minimum cost of $1,000 for two passengers.

In 2019, Royal Caribbean International revealed its plans to launch a private island in the South Pacific.

The Ultimate World Cruise by Royal Caribbean International lasts 274 nights and visits over 60 countries, while itineraries range from two to 28 nights.

Carnival Cruise Line is ranked as the No. 3 best cruise for families, receiving a rating of 3.90.

From various locations worldwide, such as New York, Baltimore, Los Angeles, and Miami, Carnival operates 25 ships that provide trips to destinations including Mexico, Hawaii, Europe, and the Caribbean.

Each Carnival ship has a crew-to-passenger ratio of about one crew member for every three passengers, like Disney.
