The site recently examined not only in-demand tech jobs but also the specific technical skills that can significantly impact your salary.

According to Maggie Hulce, executive vice president and general manager of the job seeker division at Indeed, our data indicates that having tech skills, such as generative AI, can increase your average earnings by approximately 47%, to around $174,727.

The five most in-demand and highest-paying tech skills, according to Indeed, are: 1. Data Science 2. Cloud Computing 3. Cybersecurity 4. Artificial Intelligence 5. Software Development. These skills can help job seekers secure high salaries.

Generative AI

AI tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Google Gemini can assist with writing blog posts, preparing for job interviews, and editing presentations, among other tasks.

Average salary potential: $174,727

SoC

A system-on-chip (SoC) is a chip that contains most or all of the components of an electronic system, such as a computer.

Average salary potential: $174,564

Deep learning

Machine learning through multi-layered neural networks is known as deep learning, which is a type of AI.

Average salary potential: $170,939

Torch

Lua is the scripting language on which Torch, an open-source machine learning library and scientific computing framework, is based.

PyTorch

The Torch library forms the foundation of PyTorch, a machine learning framework used for computer vision, natural language processing, and other applications, and was initially created by Meta's AI lab.

To develop these skills, Hulce suggests enrolling in online courses, attending boot camps, or participating in training programs. Vicki Salemi, a career expert at Monster, recommends looking into your company's internal resources and budgets for training.

"A recent LinkedIn workplace learning report shows that 38% of employers are currently investing in employees' AI literacy, while Monster's 2024 Work Watch Report states that 39% of employers offer training and development programs to help employees advance in their careers," Salemi says.

These skills are commonly found in jobs such as data scientist, machine learning engineer, software engineer, research scientist, and full stack developer.

"Hulce reports that there is a growing demand for jobs and skills related to AI, as evidenced by the significant increase in searches for generative AI jobs on Indeed, which have surged by nearly 4,000% in the past year, and the remarkable 306% increase in job postings for generative AI roles since September 2022."

According to Hulce, every industry is looking for these skills, as evidenced by the data.
