The record-breaking 50-50 home run ball of Shohei Ohtani is now available for purchase at $4.5 million.
In Major League Baseball's more than 120-year history, Shohei Ohtani has become the first player to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in the same season.
The success of Japanese superstar Ohtani may result in a multimillion-payday for one fan who witnessed his record-breaking home run.
The baseball that Ohtani hit for his 50th homer on Sept. 19 is being sold by Goldin Auctions, who consider it a significant piece of modern baseball memorabilia.
The starting bid for the historic ball, which is the most valuable from Ohtani's incredible 6-for-6, 3-home-run, and 10 RBI performance, is $500,000.
"The baseball is a unique and valuable addition to any game-used memorabilia collection, with excellent game use evident on the white leather surface."
The auction will take place from Sept. 27 to Oct. 9, with extended bidding on Oct. 16. You can view the listing here.
A buyer who wants to avoid the auction can purchase the ball for $4.5 million, but if the bidding exceeds $3 million, the option will vanish.
In 1999, the highest price ever paid for a baseball was $3 million, which was for Mark McGwire's 70th home run ball.
If you don't have millions of dollars to bid on Ohtani's home run ball, don't worry. The Dodgers' $700 million man recently signed a trading card deal with Topps which will include autographed and game-used memorabilia cards.
