None of the top 10 colleges attended by students are Ivy League institutions.
While some colleges are known for their party reputation, others are recognized for their athletic achievements.
At some institutions, the hard work really starts after you're admitted.
According to The Princeton Review, Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering in Needham, Massachusetts is the college where students spend the most time studying, either by hitting the books or working on projects.
The ranking of schools where students study the most is based on a survey asking students about their out-of-class study hours.
According to The Princeton Review, the top 10 most studious colleges for 2025 are:
- Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering — Needham, Massachusetts
- Lehigh University — Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
- Massachusetts Institute of Technology — Cambridge, Massachusetts
- California Institute of Technology — Pasadena, California
- College of the Atlantic — Bar Harbor, Maine
- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology — Terre Haute, Indiana
- Gettysburg College — Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Despite the numerous study hours, students at Olin take very few tests, according to Princeton Review's surveys.
The median earnings for students 10 years after attending Olin with engineering degrees is $129,455, according to the Department of Education's College Scorecard.
The majority of schools where students report the most study hours are science, technology, engineering, and math-focused. However, students in the humanities, art, and other fields also work hard, with majors in the social sciences and humanities being popular at both Williams and Reed.
