H&R Block can now boast about having the happiest and least stressful workplace.
According to the 2024 Work Wellbeing 100 from Indeed and the University of Oxford's Wellbeing Research Centre, the tax preparation company ranked first in employee wellbeing.
The top 100 publicly traded U.S. companies with high levels of employee happiness, purpose, satisfaction, and low stress, as reported in a survey and review on Indeed, may be contributing to better business performance.
According to a report, companies with higher work wellbeing scores tend to have higher valuations, returns on assets, and profits. These companies also outperform stock market indexes such as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite.
The most common industries on the list were retail, appearing 23 times, and transportation, which was mentioned 14 times.
"According to Kyle M.K., a talent strategy advisor at Indeed, many companies prioritize work flexibility, allowing employees to choose their work location, schedule, and method, providing them with the flexibility to attend appointments, events, or work from home if it's more convenient for them."
According to Indeed, companies that are not imposing stricter office attendance policies are more attractive to job seekers.
According to M.K., companies that offer more choices tend to have a better reputation among their employees.
Recently, H&R Block's chief people officer informed Human Resource Executive that the company leads the way in hybrid workplaces, with 42% of its corporate staff working remotely full-time.

According to M.K., a majority of job seekers prioritize companies that prioritize their employees' well-being at work. Indeed's list highlights these firms that job seekers may want to consider in their job search.
"Indeed's chief people and sustainability officer, LaFawn Davis, emphasized the importance of creating work environments that promote employee wellbeing, stating that it is crucial for companies to prioritize this in order to foster a more resilient, effective, and happy workforce, which ultimately leads to business growth."
M.K. advises job seekers to assess their values before choosing a workplace, as it will aid them in discovering companies that share their "intrinsic motivations" and enable them to excel.
He states that everyone has the right to succeed at work and deserves a workplace that prioritizes their well-being.
