The upcoming weekend will see the grand wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, which has been the subject of much discussion for months.

Mukesh Ambani's youngest son, Ambani, is set to marry in a wedding estimated to cost between 11 billion to 13 billion rupees ($132 million to $156 million), according to the BBC, although the families involved have not disclosed any figures.

The wedding celebration will feature a three-day star-studded event in March in Jamnagar, Gujarat, with 1,200 guests, including Meta's Mark Zuckerberg and Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan.

The big day is approaching, and in July there will be more celebrations after a luxury cruise across the Mediterranean.

A luxury wedding planner in London, Karishma Manwani, revealed to CNBC Make It that her affluent clients typically spend between £200,000 and £1 million ($258,620 and $1.29 million) on their wedding celebrations.

Pristine Events founder Priya Suglani stated that her clients typically spend between £40,000 to £130,000 on events and weddings.

According to Manwani and Suglani, a beautiful wedding doesn't have to be expensive, and there are ways to put on a spectacular show with a smaller budget.

Six tips for hosting a lavish wedding on a budget were shared.

Pick 5 non-negotiables

If you have a limited budget, Suglani recommends prioritizing your spending by choosing "quality over quantity."

Suglani advises couples to choose their top five non-negotiables for their wedding, which are the things that hold the most significance to them.

Considering the aspects of weddings that have been most enjoyable to you in the past, such as cuisine, beverages, melodies, or amusement.

"Invest the majority of your funds into your wedding to ensure a high-quality personalized experience, as the booked items will be of exceptional quality," she advised.

"Instead of cramming everything into a wedding, it's better to opt for a more relaxed approach. However, by choosing the cheapest option for everything, you may end up with a lackluster celebration."

Refine the guestlist

While it may be tempting to invite everyone you know to a wedding, narrowing down the guest list can help reduce expenses and enable you to allocate more funds to other aspects of the celebration.

""Ensure that you have the people you truly desire and those you'll miss if they're not on the dance floor that night, as every guest counts," Manwani advised."

According to Suglani, there's a trend in the wedding industry of inviting fewer people but spending more on other aspects.

"Having a guest list of 200 people allows them to focus on other things and spend less on the event than if they had 500 people," she stated.

DIY it

Suglani recommends being smart about cost-effectiveness, which may mean doing things yourself at home.

"Nowadays, you can create your own personalized stationery and have it printed," she stated.

Vanessa Acosta and Sam Roberts took their wedding planning to the next level, hosting their big day in their own backyard on a budget of $3,000.

"Acosta previously told CNBC Make It that they DIY'ed and thrifted everything for their wedding. They thrifted my husband's shirt and used his really nice dress shoes he already owned. I made my dress and thrifted the fabrics; I made my veil."

Consider a weekday wedding

To save money, Manwani recommends that couples be flexible with their wedding dates.

Weekday weddings are a more affordable option than peak Saturday bank holidays in the U.K. Venues and suppliers are less in demand on weekdays, which means they may be more willing to negotiate and offer better deals.

"If you choose to go off-peak on weekdays, suppliers will be free on that day. They will offer you a great deal that suits your needs. As a result, you will get the best suppliers and the venue you want at a reasonable price without paying premiums."

Host some events at home

According to Manwani, hosting pre-wedding events at home is a convenient and inexpensive option for families planning such events, like the Ambanis.

Instead of hosting a whole event, consider doing it in your back garden. This way, you won't have to worry about minimum spends, providing many things, or accommodating 100 guests.

"If you can only accommodate 25 guests in your home, you will adhere to the list."

Fake flowers are better

At weddings, floral arrangements can convey a powerful message, but you don't have to limit yourself to fresh flowers.

Suglani stated that today's fake floral options are incredibly impressive, provide a lot of drama and impact, but are significantly more affordable.

Consider what is in season if fresh flowers are a must for your wedding, Manwani advises.

Brides often come to me with a preferred flower, but it's not in season. To resolve this issue, we import them from Holland or other countries. However, if we utilize what's available during that time of year, we can achieve a stunning look without the added expense of logistics that are not visible to the public.
