Glen Powell, star of "Hit Man," hopes he hasn't "made it": "There are no guarantees in this business."
Currently, Glen Powell is among the most popular actors in the film industry.
Jake "Hangman" Seresin, who stole the show in 2022's billion-dollar-grossing "Top Gun: Maverick," has become one of Hollywood's most sought-after leading men at the age of 35.
Over the summer, his romantic comedy "Anyone But You" grossed more than $200 million, and he received critical acclaim for his performance in Richard Linklater's "Hit Man," which debuted on Netflix last weekend. Later this summer, he will headline "Twisters," the sequel to the 1996 disaster film.
In a recent interview with CBS Mornings, Powell stated that he doesn't feel like he's "made it" despite his current success.
"He shared with Gayle King that he has experienced the same moment as other men in his position, and while it sometimes persists, other times it doesn't."
Since his debut as Long-Fingered Boy in "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over" in 2003, it took nearly 20 years for Powell to be recognized as a bankable leading man in Hollywood.
The "Devotion" actor stated that he doesn't want to be viewed as "achieving" success because it implies a final destination. He understands that success is temporary.
"I hope there's no endgame for me," he said. "I just want to keep doing this job for as long as I'm alive. That's my plan."
Powell is currently relishing the experience and sharing it with those who supported him on his journey. The Texan invited his parents to be included in the CBS profile, acknowledging their role in helping him prepare for auditions when he was a budding actor seeking to make ends meet.
"You never know how far this journey will take you, but I knew they would be with me no matter the outcome," he said. "That's been amazing because right now, we're getting to win."
