George Clooney pretended to be anxious to put Anna Kendrick at ease on set: "It was such a blessing."
Despite having starred in two successful "Twilight" movies prior to being cast with George Clooney in "Up In The Air" in 2009, Anna Kendrick was still anxious on her first day on set.
Last week, the actress was a guest on "Who's Talking to Chris Wallace" and thanked Clooney for making her feel comfortable during the interview while promoting her directorial debut.
During the film's production, Kendrick, who was only 23 at the time, stated that Clooney made an effort to treat her as an equal actor on set.
"George, who is 47 years old, is kind of capital G to other people, she said. He works hard to make them forget that and feel comfortable."
As they were about to film their first scene together, Kendrick, who was new to the film, shared her nerves with the Academy Award-winning actor.
"Kendrick said, "He was doing this whole thing about worrying, like, 'Did they even hire the right guy?'""
"It was a gift for him to say that because it made me feel like someone would hold space for my anxiety and be cool with it."
Years later, Kendrick realized that Clooney was probably not entirely truthful.
"That memory suddenly came to mind and I thought, 'No, no, he doesn't get insecure or worry about being the wrong hire,'" she said. "Perhaps he faced that issue earlier in his career."
Still, Kendrick said that to this day she appreciates the gesture.
""It really put me at ease, but was entirely fabricated," she stated."
Kendrick's performance was improved by Clooney's gesture, which led to her being nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar.
