The year 2023 has been dubbed the year of AI due to the rapid pace of artificial intelligence breakthroughs this year, which has caused some concern.

Despite fear, people still joined the AI bandwagon, a study shows. ChatGPT, with over 14 billion visits from September 2022 to August 2023, is the world's most popular generative AI tool, according to a survey by Writerbuddy.ai.

Using SEMrush, Writerbuddy analyzed over 3,000 artificial intelligence tools to determine the most popular ones of the year. The top 50 AI tools received over 24 billion visits, with the majority of the traffic coming from male users.

According to the rankings, the top 10 most popular AI tools are:

Despite some negative press this year, including Sam Altman's leadership shakeup and potentially harmful AI developments, the industry-leading bot, ChatGPT, continues to be widely used for tasks such as planning out weekly schedules and writing detailed resumes.

While other generative tools like Google's Bard and Quillbot can summarize and paraphrase text, they haven't gained the same level of popularity as Open AI's chatbot. Additionally, tools like Character.ai and Novel.ai are commonly used as virtual companions.

Susan Gonzales, founder and CEO of AIandYou, a nonprofit that teaches AI skills to people from marginalized communities, believes that if you're only using AI for entertainment purposes, you may be missing out on the opportunity to make money without a fancy job or college degree.

As a freelancer or small business owner, AI tools can help improve your business by improving inventory management, analyzing customer behavior, and gaining competitive intelligence. These tools can also help you target your marketing and advertising efforts more effectively, allowing you to identify new revenue opportunities.

AI can also assist you in finding a side gig, such as tutoring.

"Today, all the information about AI is readily available online, providing numerous opportunities to learn how it works and potentially become an AI tutor or pass on the knowledge to the next generation," Gonzales stated.
