The 10 wealthiest U.S. cities, according to 2024 U.S. Census household income data, are as follows:

The median income in Detroit, which is the 30th largest city in the US, is $40,574, significantly lower than the median income in San Francisco.

According to New World Wealth, San Francisco has 305,700 millionaires, which is the second highest number of millionaires among U.S. cities, surpassed only by New York City's 349,500 millionaires.

Cities with high levels of wealth often have a large number of well-paying jobs in technology, finance, entertainment, or healthcare industries. Additionally, limited space for new housing developments and increased property prices due to scarcity can make it difficult for lower-income individuals to enter the market.
