Despite having a nearly $10 million contract, Buffalo Bills rookie Keon Coleman continues to shop at Macy's.

Keon Coleman, the Buffalo Bills rookie wide receiver, recently signed a four-year, nearly $10 million contract, but he's still a shrewd bargain hunter.

During an April press conference, the second round draft pick disclosed that he did not purchase his coat from a designer retailer, but instead bought it on sale at Macy's. Coleman spent $79.89 on his yellow Guess puffer coat, which he described as a "great deal."

He learned to save money from his mother, who taught him to buy his coats in the summer to find discounts, he stated.

"During the press conference, Coleman stated, "I shop like my mom and purchase my coats during the summer months. It's important to plan ahead and shop a season or two in advance.""

Nike sent Coleman a box of coats after the press conference clip gained popularity online, according to Sports Illustrated.

Keon Coleman's influence is still present on Macy's website, despite the fact that the yellow version of the Guess coat is not currently available. One review from May states, "I purchased this jacket for my son because of Keon Coleman."

Herbert Jones, the New Orleans Pelicans small forward, values affordable clothing like Coleman.

According to data from Spotrac, Jones, who will earn nearly $13 million in the upcoming NBA season, stated in 2022 that he prioritizes his future over his current appearance.

"If I have to wear Pelicans gear for the rest of my career, then my kids or kids' kids can go to school for free just based on what I earned in the NBA, then I'm good, I'm cool," the then-24-year-old said to Andscape.

2. Brock Purdy

In 2023, Brock Purdy, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback, disclosed that he drives a Toyota Sequoia and shares an apartment with a roommate. Purdy, who made nearly $900,000 last year, prefers a minimalist way of living and splits the rent with an offensive lineman on the team.

The Sequoia, which Purdy didn't specify when he bought, is not a cheap vehicle. The 2024 model's prices range from $61,000 to $78,000, but it's not a high-priced sports car.

The high cost of living in cities like San Francisco, which was the third most expensive urban area in the United States in 2023, according to data from The Council for Community and Economic Research's Cost of Living Index, may make it necessary for a professional football player to split rent.

3. Gerrit Cole

Gerrit Cole, a New York Yankees player, revealed in 2021 that he still drives the truck he's owned since high school.

Cole, whose nine-year contract is worth $324 million, prefers to drive his 2006 Toyota Tacoma in Los Angeles because it still works and reminds him of "all the youth baseball things" he traveled to in high school, he told NJ.com.
