At the New York Times' DealBook Summit on Wednesday, Jeff Bezos, Amazon's executive chair, stated that he is still involved in expanding the company and that his approach is straightforward.

To keep the $2.32 trillion company on track, Bezos only needs to focus on a few key things, he said. These three elements can help anyone get ahead: identifying big ideas, enforcing tough execution against them, and growing the next generation of leaders.

In 2017, organizational psychologist Adam Grant advised CNBC Make It that caring about ideas, processes, and people is key to achieving company-wide goals. Effective leaders prioritize pushing projects and their employees towards success, rather than their own personal achievements.

"According to Grant, a professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, the greatest leaders of our time prioritize doing something that benefits others over achieving success as their primary goal. As a result, success becomes a byproduct of their other objectives. The larger the scope of their aims, the more they focus on benefiting others, the more likely they are to produce something that will also bring success to themselves."

The mindset of Bezos can be adopted by anyone in the workplace, regardless of their career level. According to a LinkedIn report published in February, employees who work collaboratively towards a shared goal, prioritizing communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, are highly sought after in the current job market.

The former CEO of Amazon, who stepped down in 2021, is now working with the current CEO and leadership team to achieve success. Their primary focus is on artificial intelligence, including Amazon's recently released generative AI model, Nova.

"Bezos stated that they are currently developing a thousand AI applications internally, which can enhance everything and will be integrated into everything globally."
