Trump urges Senate Republicans to hinder Biden's final judicial appointments.
- Trump urged GOP senators to obstruct Biden's judicial nominees' confirmation.
- Some Biden judicial picks have been confirmed by moderate GOP senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska.
- With approximately two dozen nominees still awaiting final confirmation or before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Biden is on track to surpass the number of judges that Trump confirmed.
On Tuesday, Donald Trump, the president-elect, urged his fellow Republican senators to hinder the confirmation of any additional judicial nominees put forth by President Joe Biden.
Trump wrote on Truth Social that the Democrats are attempting to fill the Courts with radical left judges before leaving office.
"No judges should be confirmed before Inauguration Day, as Republican Senators must stand firm and not waver," he stated.
On Jan. 3, Democrats will lose their slim Senate majority, while Trump will be inaugurated on Jan. 20.
On Monday, the Senate confirmed Judge Embry Kidd to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, bringing the total number of Biden's federal judiciary nominees confirmed to 216.
The White House announced on November 8th that Biden has nominated a total of 261 judges.
When Trump took office in 2017, there were more than double the current number of vacancies in the federal judiciary.
During his first term, Trump appointed 227 judges. Biden is currently on track to surpass this number, with approximately 20 nominees still awaiting final confirmation or review by the Senate Judiciary Committee.
During the lame-duck session, Trump had previously stated that "no judges should be approved."
Trump wrote on Truth Social that the Democrats are trying to rush their judges through while the Republicans are fighting over leadership, which he finds unacceptable.
Two moderate GOP senators, Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, have disregarded the party's command and voted to confirm some of Biden's judicial picks.
Democrats are working tirelessly to appoint Biden's judges before time runs out.
"We have not completed our work. We must still confirm additional judges. We will devote the remainder of this week and this year to this task," Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., stated on the chamber floor Tuesday morning.
"Last night, I remained on the Senate floor until almost midnight to vote on the confirmation of President Biden's judicial nominees," wrote Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash.
"We will continue to confirm as many qualified Judges as possible until the clock runs out, in order to uphold the values of the people who elected us," Murray wrote.
Many conservatives have used social media to criticize Senate Republicans for not taking action against Democrats' attempts to confirm judges, as encouraged by Trump. This group includes right-wing influencer Mike Cernovich, conservative lawyer Mike Davis, and Grace Chong, who works for Steve Bannon's show "War Room."
Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, Trump's vice president-elect, was tagged by Chong in a deleted post urging Republicans to "show up and do your one fricken job!!"
On Tuesday afternoon, Vance stated that Chong was "a mouth breathing imbecile," asserting that Biden's latest nominee would have been confirmed even if he had not been present for the vote. Later, Vance removed his response.
I was interviewing for FBI Director while the 11th Circuit vote occurred, as written by Vance.
While it may be more crucial to select an FBI director who will dismantle the deep state, I believe it's equally important for Republicans to lose a vote 49-46 rather than 49-45. However, that's just my opinion.
