  • Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, will give remarks and distribute supplies in Valdosta, Georgia, following Hurricane Helene.
  • Recently, Trump criticized Harris and Biden in harsh political language regarding their handling of the storm.

On Monday, Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, will give remarks and distribute supplies in Georgia, which was hit by a hurricane, a day after he used the disaster to attack Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee.

On Sunday afternoon, Trump's campaign announced that he will visit the southern city of Valdosta to receive a briefing on Hurricane Helene's impact and facilitate the distribution of relief supplies before addressing the press at 2 p.m. ET.

Vice President Harris canceled campaign stops in Las Vegas to return to Washington, D.C., for a briefing with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

On Monday, President Joe Biden stated that he and Vice President Kamala Harris plan to visit hurricane-affected areas once they are certain their presence will not hinder emergency response efforts. Biden later announced that he anticipates making the trip on Wednesday or Thursday.

Since its landfall as a Category 4 storm in northern Florida on Thursday night, the hurricane's death toll has increased to 116, according to NBC News' tally.

Over 25 individuals in Georgia have been reported dead, according to Gov. Brian Kemp, a Republican, during a Monday morning briefing. Additionally, deaths have been reported in Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The ferocious rains, wind, and floods have left millions of people without power and have submerged entire towns, including those hundreds of miles inland, such as Asheville, North Carolina.

On Sunday, Trump criticized Biden and Harris in a politically charged manner regarding their handling of the Helene situation.

At a campaign rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, Trump stated that they receive a significant amount of funding from radical left lunatic donors through their fundraising events, despite the devastation caused by a massive hurricane that has left many people dead and underwater in parts of our country.

"She should be in the area where she is supposed to be. That's what she's being paid for."

Trump's comments about Helene at a rally in Michigan on Friday were criticized by the Harris campaign and its allies, who had already attacked him for his remarks.

The Harris campaign social media account posted a clip suggesting that Trump was downplaying the disaster, which garnered over 5 million views on X by Monday morning.

Trump's allies defended his remarks, stating that the clip was taken out of context and that he was providing comfort to the storm's victims.

Some of Trump's opponents compared his insensitive responses to natural disasters with a quote from a former president, citing his tossing of paper towel rolls to hurricane survivors in Puerto Rico in 2017.
