  • The Democratic presidential nominee, Kamala Harris, expressed pride in having the support of celebrities like Bad Bunny and Jennifer Lopez, as well as those who had been backing her before the controversy at Madison Square Garden.

On Monday, Vice President Kamala Harris rejected the "nonsense" expressed at Donald Trump's rally in New York City the previous day, which included a racist joke by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe about Puerto Rico.

The Democratic presidential nominee expressed pride in having the support of Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, and others who were backing him before the controversy at Madison Square Garden.

Bad Bunny and Lopez, both Puerto Rican, showcased Harris' backing for Puerto Rico on social media following Hinchliffe's criticism of the U.S. territory.

On Sunday, the vice president unveiled a plan to stimulate Puerto Rico's economy by establishing a task force aimed at promoting economic development on the island.

On Monday, Harris stated, "Last night's event at Madison Square Garden by Donald Trump emphasized a point I've been emphasizing throughout my campaign."

Harris stated that he is fixated on his grievances and dividing our country, which will not strengthen the American family or worker.

"It is intended to fan the flames of division among us."

Before Trump's speech, Hinchcliffe warmed up the crowd at the Garden as one of the rally's opening acts.

A floating island of garbage is currently present in the middle of the ocean, according to Hinchcliffe.

The comedian added, "These Latinos are known for their love of making babies. Just remember, they don't pull out. They come inside, just like they did to our country."

Hinchcliffe made other racist cracks during his performance.

On Monday morning, in a radio interview, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro stated that his state is home to approximately half a million Puerto Ricans.

Pennsylvania is a key swing state in the 2024 presidential election.

According to NBC News, Danielle Alvarez, senior adviser to the Trump campaign, stated that the joke made by Hinchcliffe about Puerto Rico does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign.
